OPEN DOOR
We welcome everyone coming to worship at St Lawrence and St Saviour from near and far. The door of St Lawrence is open everyday for anyone who seeks a place of peaceful prayer and contemplation and there are services throughout the week as well as on Sundays.
Visit the DIARY to find out what is happening during the current week.
CHILDREN WELCOME
Children are welcome at our services. Most weeks during the 10 o'clock service at St Lawrence there are Young Pilgrims activities in the church hall but children are also welcome to stay in the church, where there is a play area at the back of the church, behind the pews on the left of the church. There is a carpet and books and toys on the shelves.
The vicar's philosophy about lively children during the sermon is: " I don't mind competition, as long as I am winning... and I do have a microphone!"
FOR THOSE AT HOME
Communion can be taken to people's homes if they are too unwell or frail to come to church and Communion services are held at our church school and at the nursing home in the village.
THE SOUND OF MUSIC
Choir
St Lawrence’s has a keen choir which gives vocal leadership at the main 10.00am Sunday Service.
The aim of the choir is to serve the congregation through enunciating clearly the words and melody of all hymns and to provide accompaniment that adds to the joy of worship through Christian music.
The Choir performs anthems, spirituals or worship song-arrangements once every four to five weeks. Music is usually for two, three and sometimes four-parts and is consonant with the culture of a welcoming church that serves the whole local community.
NEW CHOIR MEMBERS WILL BE VERY WELCOME – please contact James West on 01483 772577 or see him or any choir member after a Sunday Service.
Organ
St Lawrence’s has a fine three manual Wyvern organ and our organist tries to do justice to the instrument!
New bell-ringers are also welcome and training given. Practice is on Monday
at 7.45pm - come along to find out more.
THOUGHT FOR YOUR COMFORT
St Lawrence has ramp access for wheelchairs, and St Saviour has easy wheelchair access. St Lawrence has a loop system for the hard of hearing, and both churches are well heated!
