Baptisms are wonderfully happy occasions - to celebrate the arrival of a new member
of the human family, and even more to celebrate the love that God has for that child.
Here, he or she becomes part of the great family of God throughout the world, which
is why baptisms take place when the local part of the family is gathered for worship.
Anyone living within the parish boundary – adult or child - has a right to be Baptised
(Christened) in our churches.
We are sometimes asked to baptise those from outside the parish but we will only
do this with the goodwill of the parish where they live.
During the period between our Vicar retiring in April 2012 and a new person being
appointed, we will only be baptising babies from families who live in the parish
or who are on the church roll. This is a practical way of limiting the extra burden
of work on our honorary assistant priest Chris Bedford who will be holding the fort.
Chris will visit to explain the service, and someone will also call afterwards. We
encourage people to come to watch a baptism before their own.
Baptisms at St Saviour take place during the 9.00am service at mutually agreed dates.
Teenagers and adults are usually baptised at their Confirmation Service.

the website. Please email pictures of your special day to:

Baptisms are usually on the 1st Sunday of the month at 10.00 am. at St Lawrence.
Since we are limited by numbers to three families each month, early enquiry is advisable.
